Wayne Pearce is a Rugby League icon. The non-drinking, non-smoking Balmain boy captained the Tigers to four Panasonic Cup finals and two premiership grand finals before retiring. He later returned to coach his beloved Tigers through the most turbulent period in the famous clubs history.
He has been inducted into the NSW Sports Hall of Fame as well as the Balmain Tigers Hall of Fame. He was also selected in the Balmain Tigers and Wests Tigers Team of the Century.
Recently, Wayne's Rugby League acheivements were further recognised with his selection as a Rugby League Centurian - one of the top 100 Australian players of all time.
Wayne outstanding contribution to rugby league and the community was acknowledged when, whilst still playing international rugby league, he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1988.
